Cover picture: Proposed origin of lyotropic selectivity patterns characteristic of both anion permeability and anion binding in the CFTR Cl channel. An electrostatic model for ion solvation by the channel accounts for the observation that anions that enter more readily than Cl also bind more tightly within the channel.
