About the Cover

Cover Figure

Cover picture: The green mesh between two subunits of the KcsA potassium channel (left and middle) shows the x-ray crystallographic location of a barium ion lodged in the ion pathway. Red mesh shows the location of conductive rubidium ions. By electrophysiological analysis, Neyton and Miller deduced the relative position of barium with respect to conductive ions in a potassium channel (right). See related article by Jiang, Y., and R. MacKinnon, in this issue, pp. 269-272.
