About the Cover

Cover Figure

The Journal of General Physiology 116 6 Cover picture: Cartoon depicting one possible mechanism by which an analogue of diacylglycerol (DAG) inhibits cyclic nucleotidegated ion channels. DAG inserts into the bilayer, altering the bilayerıs mechanical properties and its interaction with the channels, and thereby making channel closure more energetically favorable. Other possible mechanisms are discussed in the related article by Crary, J.I., D.M. Dean, W. Nguitragool, P.T. Kurshan, and A.L. Zimmerman, in this issue, pp. 755-768.
