The Journal of General Physiology 117 3 Cover picture: Ion binding sites in the NMDA receptor channel inferred form the kinetics of Mg2+ blockade. There are two external sites that bind Na⁺ or Ka⁺: one Mg2⁺-selective site, and site near the internal entrance that specifically binds K⁺.
