About the Cover

Cover Figure

Sequence of gating conformational changes in the muscle acetylcholine receptor channel (AChR). The AChR is organized into discrete domains that move sequentially, each as a rigid body, during gating. The colors mark gating domains in the - (left) and -subunit (right). When an AChR opens the order of domain movement is red-yellow-green-blue-magenta. See related article by Chakrapani, S., T.D. Bailey, and A. Auerbach, pp. 341-356.
